Hello from Stupid Simple Tools - We’re a young, (but not too young), engineering and design company making premium workshop tools.
We like to think of ourselves as a collaborative group of artists, designers, and engineers who work together to create high quality, kickass tools! All our products are designed from the ground up in-house, and each represents a blend of engineering innovation and design beauty. We’re pride ourselves in our work ethic and design quality, and are looking for a like-minded engineer.
You can find all the tools our team has developed at: www.stupidsimple.tools
We are searching for an experienced mechanical engineer – someone who will work alongside our lead mechanical engineer (Baran), as well our talented industrial designer (Patrick), to help bring our next generation of tools to market.
Our ideal hire would be able to take control of a project from start to finish: taking concept drawings and a feature list – and delivering models and drawings to eventually turn into production.
As part of 6-person team team your skills, contributions, and personality matter. As such, there are plenty of growth opportunities professionally, financially, in skill, and in project focus – we want you to grow alongside the company.
What you will work on (with the team):
Product ideation: Contribute to our brainstorms where we decide which products we will develop next, and discuss the project goals
Mechanical Design: After we solidify the functional features & ornamental design of our products – we switch gears into mechanically designing the tool, with material and manufacturing considerations applied.
Product Prototyping + Analysis: Prototyping is an important phase of our product development. We analyze dimensions, tolerances, appearances, and of course function – before sending revisions to our manufacturing partners for the next prototype.
Product Production: Once we’re ready for production, we organize timelines and production goals – then manage the progress. We generally have 2-3 prototype runs before we jump into bulk production orders.
Skills we’re looking for
- 4+ Years of Mechanical Engineering & Design Experience
- Moderate to advanced skill level in Inventor Pro software
- High proficiency with creating AND reading GD&T drawings
- Experience running analysis: Including FEA, CFD, and stress / fatigue analysis
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes – specifically CNC and injection molding
- Fluency and experience in DMF
- Ability to steer a project’s production: including manufacturing decision-making; production, labor, and material calculations; monitoring production schedules; estimating future requirements.
Added bonuses:
- Experience in Curvature/Nurb modeling software (Blender, Rhino)
- Previous experience working in a D2C Product Start Up
- Well developed portfolio of product / Mechanical design work
If you’re interested reach out with a resume, & a preferably a sample project portfolio ! We are looking to bring on the right candidate immediately :)
With love - The Stupid Simple Team <3
