Job Description:
- Fastlabtech.com is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Data Engineer with expertise in healthcare technology to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, with a focus on building scalable data pipelines and solutions that support both telemedicine, laboratory, and billing operations. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in architecting and implementing data solutions that drive innovation and improve healthcare outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, process, and transform data from telemedicine platforms, laboratory information management systems (LIMS), and other healthcare systems.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, telemedicine specialists, laboratory scientists, and data scientists, to define data requirements and design data models that support analytical and operational needs.
- Architect and maintain data infrastructure and platforms, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance to support real-time and batch processing requirements for both telemedicine and labtech applications.
- Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance with healthcare data standards and regulations, such as HIPAA, CLIA, and CAP, as well as telemedicine regulations and standards.
- Optimize data pipelines and workflows for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, leveraging cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, and orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
- Utilize DBT for data transformation, modeling, and documentation, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and reproducibility.
- Mentor and coach junior team members, providing technical guidance and expertise to support their professional growth and development.
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering, telemedicine, laboratory informatics, and health-tech industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building data pipelines and ETL processes in a healthcare environment.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or PHP, with experience in orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, and data transformation tools like DBT.
- Proficiency in SQL and relational database systems, as well as NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms and services, such as AWS (Amazon Redshift, S3, EMR), Azure (Azure Data Lake, Databricks), or Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Dataflow).
- Familiarity with telemedicine platforms and protocols, such as HL7, FHIR, and EDI X12, as well as laboratory data standards and interoperability frameworks.
- Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements for healthcare data, including HIPAA, CLIA, and CAP, as well as telemedicine regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions that meet business objectives.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
