About Hum Capital

Hum Capital provides flexible, non-dilutive growth capital to established, growing U.S. businesses, including the companies banks overlook. We combine live company data and AI with experienced underwriters to evaluate businesses on their real financials and performance, with a human on every decision. Companies can get capital directly from Hum Financial or get matched with lenders through the Hum Marketplace. Hum was named Business Lending Platform of the Year at the FinTech Breakthrough Awards.

The Role

We’re hiring an experienced lending originator to source, qualify and develop financing opportunities with established private companies. You’ll work directly with CEOs, CFOs and owners, build a network of referral partners (brokers, bankers, advisors, M&A professionals), and own each opportunity from first conversation through handoff to our investment and deal teams.

This is a lending role, not a generalist or SaaS sales role. You’ll need a working knowledge of commercial credit and financial statements.

What You’ll Do

Originate and qualify direct lending opportunities with established private companies
Hold substantive discovery conversations covering revenue, profitability, EBITDA, existing debt, capital structure and use of proceeds
Review financial information and identify deals that fit Hum’s lending criteria
Build and grow referral relationships with brokers, bankers, advisors and intermediaries
Assess inbound opportunities quickly and run targeted outbound origination
Work closely with underwriting, investment and deal teams to move qualified deals forward
Manage your pipeline and follow-up in Salesforce

What You Bring

3+ years originating, evaluating or supporting debt financing in commercial or regional banking, direct lending, private credit, specialty finance, alternative lending or investment banking
Experience working directly with business owners and senior financial decision-makers
Comfort discussing financial statements, EBITDA, leverage, debt capacity and credit fit
A track record of building relationships and generating deal flow
Strong communication skills and disciplined follow-up

Nice to Have

An existing network of brokers, bankers, PE professionals or independent sponsors
Lower-middle-market or middle-market lending experience
Experience with term loans, working capital facilities, growth capital or acquisition financing
Experience with credit or investment committees
Salesforce experience

Why Hum

Originate meaningful private-company financings, work alongside experienced credit and investment professionals, and build a network across banking, private credit and private equity.
