Hey! We're Skender, nice to meet you.

At our core, we are builders - of communities, relationships, dreams, and careers. If you asked us to describe Skender, we'd say we're ambitious, humble, and compassionate. We're focused on building lasting partnerships with the right people. Our success starts and ends with our people. That's why we seek out dynamic, high-energy teammates who are eager to learn, ready to take ownership of their careers, and excited to have fun along the way.

Who is Skender?

About 70 years ago, Skender got its start in the basement of our founder's family home. Now, Skender has two locations, our Chicago headquarters and our Indianapolis office, with nearly 400 employees helping us raise the bar year after year.

From humble beginnings to now, Skender has become one of the nation's top 100 construction firms building dream spaces for many of the world's leading brands. In more recent history, we've won 30 best-place-to-work awards from three different organizations, each based on comprehensive workplace evaluations and employee input.

Our team is driven by three core values:

Proactive: You take initiative, stay curious, and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves to get the job done.
Refreshing: You celebrate team wins, show appreciation freely, and always give credit where it's earned.
True Partner: You thrive on collaboration, ask thoughtful questions, and are fully present and engaged with your team.

If our values align with yours, this could be a great match. We love meeting new people, so we can't wait to hear about you!

Who are you?

We're looking for a Superintendent who is ready to take their career to the next level. Do you know about project management best practices, establishing budgets, and innovating through construction technology? Great. Are you someone with a go-getter attitude who can assume responsibility and communicate effectively with your team, partners, and clients? Even better.

What will I do as a Superintendent?

As a Superintendent, you'll be a hands-on leader and the driving force behind our Field Operations. In this role, you will:

Lead onsite construction efforts from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget
Create safety, phasing, and logistics plans during Preconstruction and refine them throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring associated costs are incorporated into project budgets
Develop and maintain the master project schedule and look-ahead schedules, collaborating closely with Project Management and trade partners to stay on track
Coordinate subcontractor-procured and owner-furnished equipment and materials to ensure proper construction sequencing and minimize delays
Conduct regular site inspections, enforce safety standards, and ensure full compliance with company and client requirements
Document QA/QC issues identified during the punch list and commissioning process, ensuring prompt resolution and high-quality outcomes
Build and maintain strong working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to foster collaboration and trust
Assist the Project Manager in reviewing and submitting change orders promptly with proper documentation and clear communication
Establish agendas and lead field-based meetings, including Foreman Meetings, Daily Huddles, and Subcontractor Coordination Meetings, capturing and distributing key takeaways
Mentor and guide Project Foremen, Assistant Superintendents, and Field Engineers, ensuring they meet expectations and continue developing their skills
Attend monthly profit review meetings and collaborate with the Project Management team to monitor progress and maintain cost control

Your educational background & prior experience:

5 or more years of experience in a supervisory capacity in the construction or engineering field
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction, including technology, equipment, methods, scheduling, safety, and quality
Experience working on multifamily construction projects highly preferred

What skills will we require?

Field Leadership - Proven ability to manage all on-site construction activities from start to closeout with minimal oversight.
