We launch stratospheric balloons, track and control their movement, and keep them at fixed positions for long duration to collect continuous atmospheric data. About the Role

We are looking for an RF Communications Engineer to design, develop, and test long-distance wireless communication systems for high-altitude sensing platforms. You will work across RF, antenna, embedded, and systems engineering teams to deliver reliable long-range telemetry, command, and data links.

This role includes RF hardware design, link-budget modeling, antenna development, and signal-processing implementation — along with field testing to validate end-to-end system performance.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop RF antenna systems, high-frequency links, and communication payloads
Build and test receiver chains, demodulators, and RF front-end components
Develop and optimize signal-processing algorithms for long-range communications
Perform link-budget analyses, propagation modeling, and system simulations
Integrate RF hardware with embedded systems, sensors, and flight electronics
Conduct lab and field testing of communication systems, including validation flights
Evaluate new RF technologies and integrate them into long-distance communication architectures
Collaborate with systems, avionics, and software engineers to ensure robust telemetry and command links

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or related field
Strong understanding of RF engineering, wireless communication, and electromagnetic principles
Experience with Ka/Ku, W, and/or V band communication systems
Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, VNAs, signal generators)
Knowledge of RF signal processing, modulation/demodulation, filtering, and DSP techniques
Ability to model and simulate RF links (MATLAB, ADS, CST, HFSS, GNU Radio, or similar)
Programming experience (Python, MATLAB, C/C++)
Ability to analyze systems from first principles
Comfortable with field testing and occasional irregular hours during experiments
