Process Engineer - SeniorPosition OverviewWe're seeking a seasoned professional to oversee and enhance our plastic molding operations within a fast-paced, technical manufacturing environment. This individual will serve as the go-to expert for molding processes, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term performance improvements.
Key Areas of ResponsibilityTechnical Leadership & Process Optimization- Oversee daily performance of molding machinery and associated systems to ensure smooth operations
- Serve as the lead technical authority for injection and/or blow molding technologies
- Quickly troubleshoot and resolve complex molding issues to minimize downtime and maximize production
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving system reliability, process consistency, and product quality
- Analyze cycle times and fine-tune process settings to boost throughput and minimize waste
- Lead skill-building efforts to strengthen operator knowledge and technical confidence
Production & Maintenance Collaboration- Partner with production teams to identify and resolve molding challenges promptly
- Provide direct support during mold changes, machine setups, and validation runs
- Establish and implement effective preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
- Support Maintenance in ensuring timely completion of all service tasks, covering both extrusion systems and supporting components
- Maintain strong relationships with OEMs to resolve equipment and process issues efficiently
- Develop training content to document and share solutions for recurring equipment or process problems
Quality & Compliance Support- Collaborate closely with Quality teams to investigate product defects and apply corrective actions
- Help reduce material degradation through process improvements, optimized maintenance schedules, and documented standard operating procedures
- Conduct root cause analyses and support regulatory or compliance efforts as needed
Project & Team Leadership- Mentor process technicians and operators to build a highly capable manufacturing team
- Conduct routine checks on automated equipment to ensure high-performance standards are maintained
- Offer technical insight to capital planning and quoting teams on equipment selection and installation for assigned production cells
QualificationsEducation & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Plastics, or a related Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 8 years in a hands-on role involving injection and/or blow molding processes and tooling
Technical Skills & Abilities- Strong understanding of molding equipment operations, troubleshooting, and setup
- Practical experience working with PLCs, HMIs, and servo systems
- Skilled in diagnosing issues involving sensors, motion systems, and robotics integration
- Capable of interpreting and troubleshooting from electrical schematics
- Knowledgeable in various thermoplastics (e.g., HDPE, PET, PP) and how material behavior impacts processing
- Comfortable applying Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methods
- Experienced in mold design, process qualification, and cycle optimization
Preferred Attributes- Lean Six Sigma certification(s)
- Familiarity with ERP platforms and digital manufacturing tools
- Understanding of regulatory standards in the medical, food, or consumer packaging sectors
