What you will be doing: Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, the candidate will work closely with senior staff, as well as functional and technical teams consisting of staff and contractors. The successful candidate will perform all project/program management functions, including but not limited to the following:
- Provide strong team leadership to a diverse team, including project managers, business analysts, solution architects and business representatives, demonstrating interpersonal and communication skills and business acumen.
- Develop or support the development of comprehensive Business Cases and supporting artifacts (related documents and appendices), ensuring the alignment of the proposed approach with IT services resiliency best practices, TransLink's enterprise priorities, and the program strategy.
- Prepare or oversee the preparation of all project planning documents utilizing BTS' comprehensive project management methodology (Atlas) and supporting templates
- Execute or oversee and monitor all aspects of the plan, including WBS, financials, procurements, communications, quality, risks, and decisions.
- Direct the activities of internal and external (contracted) resources, including Business Analysts, Data Analysts, Developers, and Quality Assurance Analysts for multiple projects under the program.Develop, manage, or provide input to enhance the assigned projects governance structure, including actively engaging with Project Steering and Technical Advisory Committees to foster consensus on project matters and drive the attainment of desired benefits.
- Prepare and communicate, or provide input to, detailed monthly and ad hoc reports to stakeholders, including status reports and updates to the Project Steering Committee.
- Establish and maintain project boundaries and scope agreements through governance structures, monitoring project schedules and milestones, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, and managing project finances, contracts, and vendors performance.
What you must have: - 5+ years of proven IT infrastructure experience is a must.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in business administration or computer Science.
- 8+ years of full cycle technology project management experience, preferably with experience in SDLC (full cycle software development) projects, from developing a conceptual idea to requirements gathering to system design, system build, system test, training, and cutover.
- Must have managed projects with budgets of more than $2M and teams of more than 10 people.
- Experience working as Project Manager in similar organizations in Canada is an asset.
- Extensive and proven experience managing stakeholders and an ability "to bring people together".
- Must have excellent people skills, excellent communications skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Experience communicating and presenting to senior management and executives within a large organization is essential.
- Must display a sense of "urgency to get the job done".
- Solid experience with the management of risk, change, issues, time, scope, resources, budget, and quality
- Experience managing complex contracts.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is a plus but not a mandatory requirement. Training and experience in best practice project management techniques and processes.
- Extensive and proven experience facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of stakeholder groups.
- Proven ability to gain and use an understanding of the wider program goals in deciding the supporting project strategies/objectives
- Proven ability to manage/coordinate activities and resources in conjunction with other inter-related program projects.
- Experience developing and implementing technology projects and business process initiatives designed to improve efficiency.
- Experience gathering and analyzing functional and technical requirements and information from key business areas.
- Experience leading an interdisciplinary team of technical and business resources effectively.
- Experience or understanding of organizational change (OCM) in projects
- Experience with the standard MS Office tools -including Microsoft Project-, and SharePoint.
