POSITION SUMMARY
The Data Engineer has a deep understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, data pipeline orchestration, data
governance, and data handling best practices as well as creation and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and metrics that
assist in the management of healthcare analytics. Identifies, designs and implements internal process improvements
including re-designing and maintaining the data architecture that aligns with short-term and long-term strategic vision. The
Data Engineer will design, develop, deploy, and maintain operational data pipelines that ETL data used for analytical tools,
reports, and dashboards, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics. They have hands on experience
and an understanding of systems such as Python, SSIS, SSMS, Microsoft Access and Power BI. This position will be responsible
for providing reporting, quality statistics, financial data, and other data needed to report back to funders and other
organizations that CHC has agreements with. This includes Federal Government, State and Local Entities, Grantor
Foundations and Contracts. This position will work directly with the Directors of CHC departments to provide support and
direction, and to identify systems to sustain and improve the performance of their departments and organization. The Data
Engineer will report directly to the CFO, but will also be accountable to various stakeholders including the CHC staff
executive team, the Board of Governors and/or funders. The work of the Data Engineer will align with CHC’s mission, vision
and values.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Identifies, designs and implements internal process improvements including re-designing the data architecture that
aligns with short-term and long-term strategic vision.
2. Applies knowledge of the Data Management Systems, including SQL, Microsoft Access, and Power BI.
3. Creates models to identify patterns that impact various facets of the business.
4. Designs, Develops, Deploys, and Maintains data pipelines that bring usable data into SQL Server.
5. Develops tools to improve efficiency for collecting, processing, analyzing, and visualizing large amounts of data from
various sources.
6. Building analytical tools to utilize the data pipelines, providing actionable insight into key business performance
metrics.
7. Oversees all reporting requirements for grants and contracts and ensure delivery deadlines are reached.
8. On a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis, develops and maintains a reporting system and process, and provides timely
reports to the Chief Financial Officer and other stakeholders on specific deliverables.
9. On a monthly basis, develops and maintains provider productivity reporting that aligns with the CHC provider
compensation plan.
10. Collects the required data, assists, co-develops and satisfies all requirements for the Uniform Data System (UDS) report
on an annual basis.
11. Assists external accounts and agencies in financial audits and/or review of CHC fiscal operations or grant/contract
reporting.
12. Plans and organizes communications functions and operations, and ensures that CHC’s voice is present in the
community.
13. Works with CHC Directors on important data requirements such as operational data, department data, and other
information to support the performance of the department/s.
14. Utilizes all aspects of communication tools to promote CHC. 15. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
2. Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel
3. Experience with Object Oriented programming in Python
4. Experience with data pipeline orchestration
5. Experience with relational databases, such as Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server
6. Experience with reporting software such as Power BI
7. Experience preparing financial and other data for reporting, analysis and presentation
8. Proven ability to monitor and manage numerous important tasks simultaneously
9. Proven ability to meet hard deadlines
10. Proven ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels
11. Education: BA in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or Business Analytics
12. 3+ years of experience in strong analytical and problem solving skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience and/or knowledge of the medically under-served population helpful
2. Medicaid/Medicare cost reporting experience desired
3. Knowledge of the Healthcare field and Utah Community
4. Education: Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or Business Analytics
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
