About Axiom:
At Axiom, we’re building the foundational data infrastructure powering the next generation of AI-driven drug safety models. We’re looking for a data engineer who’s excited to own the pipelines, systems, and tooling that turn raw chemical, biological, and clinical data into production-ready features for machine learning. You’ll work closely with our ML, lab, and product teams to scale our data architecture, automate ETL from diverse sources, and ensure the integrity of datasets that drive critical decisions across pharma. This role is ideal for someone who wants to build clean, reliable systems that directly impact the success of hundreds of drug programs.

They want the pain of doing something brutally hard along with the riches and glory when it finally works.
What you will be doing:
Lead Axiom’s transition into a world class enterprise software company whose products/systems can command multi million dollar contracts
Define the foundational systems infrastructure upon which Axiom’s ML/AI architecture and products are built: data infra, ml infra, model inference and serving, customer data management, etc
Evaluate, assess, and own deployments of the latest distribution systems for scaling production workflows: modal, ray, spark, daft, etc
Architect the systems for storing and processing many petabytes of novel chemical/biological/test data with unprecedented speed and efficiency
Implement novel, efficient distributed algorithms for processing huge volumes of chemical/biological/text data
Architect novel systems of LLM agents to curate, clean, and analyze human clinical trial data
Lead the development of infrastructure for machine learning including data access, distributed training, evaluations, and inference
Build quality control processes, robust testing suites, and real-time evaluations for LLM quality

Created SaaS products which store/process large volumes of customer data
Experience directly handling the software needs of large enterprise customers
Built large scale, efficient data systems which process petabytes of data
Wrote novel, efficient algorithms for thorny mathematical and data problems
Experience building large scale machine learning systems which can handle data access, training, evaluation, and deployment
Novel meta usage of LLM agents to build massive datasets to train foundational models
Took ownership of the devops infrastructure at an early stage startup, making all other engineers much more productive
