An innovative leader in the clean energy and e-mobility space is seeking a Welding Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join its advanced Battery Systems Engineering team. This position plays a pivotal role in the design, verification, and industrialization of welded components in high-performance electric vehicle battery packs.
This is a highly cross-functional position that combines engineering expertise with manufacturing strategy—ideal for someone ready to influence the future of energy storage systems from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and management of welding engineering standards and procedures for all battery-related welded applications.
- Define joint designs, welding specifications, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) requirements.
- Provide technical guidance on welding joint design, process optimization, and manufacturability balancing cost, quality, and performance.
- Define and support Welding Design of Experiments (DoE) for parameter development and process validation.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to drive continuous improvement and resolve welding-related issues.
- Interpret and apply global welding codes and standards (AWS, ISO, EN, API).
- Support prototype builds and supplier engagement through occasional travel (up to 10%).
Qualifications
Education:
- Degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or Materials Engineering (preferred: welding/materials focus).
Experience:
- Strong, proven experience in welding engineering including:
- Laser welding (preferred: aluminum; alternate: stainless steel)
- Welding automation and process control
- Development of WPS, weld specs, and interpretation of technical drawings
- Use of international welding standards and codes
- Leading or supporting Design of Experiments (DoE) for welding

Pay: $112,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
