Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer with expertise in Allen-Bradley PLC programming and AutoCAD Electrical design to develop, implement, and support automation systems. This role involves designing electrical schematics, programming control systems, and troubleshooting automation issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical design and programming, with additional experience in VFDs, Schneider HMIs, Keyence HMIs, and Keyence PLCs being a plus. Spanish language skills would also be an asset.
Key Responsibilities
- PLC & HMI Programming: Develop, test, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000, RSLogix) and HMI systems.
- HMI Design: Develop intuitive and user-friendly HMI interfaces for machine control and operator interaction.
- Electrical Design: Create detailed AutoCAD Electrical schematics and panel layouts for industrial automation projects.
- System Integration: Design and implement control systems, integrating PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and safety devices.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve automation and electrical control issues, both on-site and remotely.
- Commissioning & Testing: Travel (~30%) for system installations, field startups, and troubleshooting to ensure smooth operation.
- Continuous Improvement: Optimize control strategies, reduce cycle times, and enhance system efficiency.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate electrical drawings, BOMs, and programming logic documentation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical engineers, technicians, and customers to deliver high-quality automation solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in control system design and programming.
- Proficiency in Allen-Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000, RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, etc.).
- Strong AutoCAD Electrical skills for designing control panels and schematics.
- HMI Design experience (developing user interfaces for machine operation).
- Experience with VFDs and motor control applications.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs.
- Familiarity with industrial networking protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, etc.).
- Understanding of machine safety circuits and compliance with OSHA/ANSI standards.
- Willingness to travel (~30%) for installations, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications (Pluses)
- Experience with Schneider and Keyence HMIs.
- Keyence PLC programming and vision systems experience.
- Hands-on experience with VFD setup and tuning.
- Spanish language skills (preferred but not required).
- Experience with robotic integration and motion control.
