Wes-Tech Automation Solutions is an innovative company located in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. We are looking for individuals excited about applying state-of-the-art engineering, automation, and robotics solutions to help solve our customer’s complicated manufacturing needs.
What do Controls Engineers do at Wes-Tech?
Our engineers enjoy the ever-changing nature of complex automation projects and are engaged from concept all the way through their design life cycles. Additionally, as most of our work is for custom orders, we get to use our creativity applying current technology on a regular basis. Each project cycle includes concepting, electrical design, software development, commissioning, and installation.

What will you be responsible for?
- Leading controls design process from beginning to on-site installation and end-user training.
- Working on cross-functional teams through the entire development process.
- Ensuring designed machines are shipped on time and within budget.
- Entire document package including end-user instructions.
- Traveling to customer sites to oversee installation, train and troubleshooting.
What education and skills are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Prior training in Electrical Design, PLC programming, and Networking highly desired
- Knowledge of NFPA 79 or UL508A
- Prior experience in a similar field or role
- Passion for digging deep into puzzles and a general curiosity for how things work.
- Research, reading, and following instructions
- Strong understanding of electrical theory
- A mind for software and binary logic
- Willing to travel up to 30% of your time (primarily within the United States with periodic international travel)
- Must be able to work in the United States
Important prior experience (you must have one or more):
- Writing PLC code from scratch
- Designing Industrial Control Systems from scratch
- PLC experience with Rockwell (ControlLogix & Compact Logix) or Siemens (S7-300 & S71500)
- Robot experience - Fanuc
- Experience with Machine Vision
- Experience with AutoCad Electrical
- Experience configuring Ethernet Networks
For Individuals with 3 or more years of Controls Engineering experience:
- Project leadership and customer relations
- Hardware design experience, preferably using AutoCad Electrical
- Industrial safety standards
- A deep understanding of one or more of these systems: Fanuc Robot, Siemens S7-1500, Rockwell Logix 5000, or Industrial Vision Systems
