Our Ideal Engineer II will:
Reporting to the Operations and Engineering Manager, the Engineer II will work closely with operations, sales, product management and engineering; develop and improve current production and quality control processes; and facilitate responses to customer inquiries and complaints. The incumbent will also aid in the testing of products to specifications for quality assurance and new product development.
In this role you will:
- Maintain strong interface with customer service, product engineering, and operations to support challenges and improvements relating to the successful shipments of high-quality products.
- Support the manufacturing and shipping operations of IPS Corporation by successfully completing projects in the fields of cost reduction, new product launches, Continuous Improvement, process improvements, data analysis, and problem solving.
- Provide technical support, expertise, and documentation for identifying and correcting quality related issues. Work with customers and suppliers on root cause and corrective action investigations; issue Quality Alerts, and NCMRs to suppliers with nonconforming product; identification and disposition of nonconforming parts, scrap, and customer complaints; perform quality audits /walk through on floor to ensure quality standards and standard conditions are met; support the team on internal findings with countermeasures to continuously improve quality.
- Assist in product, customer, and certification audits.
- Familiarity with PLC architectures and systems.
- Ability to create any required documentation such as work instructions, standard operating procedures, etc.
- Document and maintain all standards including time studies, maintenance standards and production rates.
- Must have some knowledge of Lean Manufacturing including Kanban, 5S, 7 Wastes, etc.
- Evaluate production processes for safety and ergonomics, as required.
- Analyze process flow and/or cell design as required in order to maximize productivity and increase utilization.
- Assist in Customer Returns and warranty processes to identify root cause issues and implement corrective actions.
- Liaising with other engineers and departments - collaborating to develop plans that enhance production, reduce costs, and optimize labor.
- Diagnosing problems in the production line - providing recommendations and training to address issues.
- Performing or supervising routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Keeping up with advancements in engineering and production and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
- Identifying, documenting, reporting, and correcting unsafe practices to ensure a safe work environment.
- Ensuring clear communication practices among the team and stakeholders
- Analyzing all facets of production and making recommendations for improvement.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Education and/or Background Experience will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with 2+ years’ experience in a pump manufacturing environment. Must have knowledge of AutoCAD or SolidWorks and must be proficient in MS Office software package.
