Voortman USA LLC is seeking a highly skilled and safety-driven Installation Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team. The Installation Engineer is solely responsible for the safe installation of steel processing machinery and/or components for customers as per their specifications, while actively contributing to process improvement and demonstrating a high degree of quality in their work. This role requires 80% travel domestically and occasionally internationally and follows a general work schedule of three consecutive weeks on the job and one week at home.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional who values high-quality workmanship, continuous improvement, and thrives in a customer-facing travel role.
Key Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with Senior Installation Engineer and/or Site Supervisor, efficiently installs and configures machine and/or machine line in accordance with established timelines
- Monitors installation of machinery while meeting quality requirements, adheres to drawings, and pertinent safety regulations
- Identifies potential challenges and/or bottlenecks in the execution of allotted projects and reports them promptly Site Supervisor/Project Coordinator/Team Leader
- Sets-up, aligns, and assembles designated machines and/or machine lines at customer location
- Safely and securely connects electrical cabling and/or mechanical components and ensures their full functionality
- In support of continuous improvement, documents customer information management (i.e., CIM) issues in SharePoint Ensures accurate and timely submitting of business expenses, working hours, and daily work reports
- Exercises a clear understanding of regulatory rules for clean-up and organization in work areas during machinery installation projects
- Partners with different global installation teams on special projects as assigned
- Additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 80%
- Must be able to work three weeks on the job and one week off format
- Experience working in the steel manufacturing industry 3 – 4 years
- Professional experience in working with mechanical and/or electrical machinery
- Being able to speak, read, and write the English language is required to interact effectively with internal and external customers while out in the field
- Advanced computer proficiency (i.e., Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and Outlook, Teams, etc.) at least two years Engineering, mechanical, electrical professional license, or university degree required
