Position Summary We are seeking a
Commissioning Lead specializing in Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of commissioning activities for critical control systems on a complex, large-scale industrial or mission-critical project. The I&C CX Lead will work closely with the project team, vendors, and contractors to ensure all control and automation systems are installed, tested, and operating according to design intent and performance requirements.
Key Responsibilities - Lead the commissioning process for I&C systems, including BAS/BMS, PLCs, SCADA, DDC, and related instrumentation.
- Develop commissioning plans, procedures, checklists, and schedules specific to control systems.
- Review design documents, submittals, and sequence of operations to ensure alignment with project commissioning goals.
- Coordinate functional testing, point-to-point verification, loop checks, and system start-up activities.
- Interface with design engineers, contractors, controls vendors, and the client to manage and resolve technical issues.
- Verify calibration, signal integrity, and communication protocols across field devices, controllers, and system networks.
- Track progress and document commissioning activities in accordance with industry standards (ASHRAE/NIBS, etc.).
- Provide regular updates and turnover packages, including test reports, issue logs, and close-out documentation.
- Support training and turnover efforts to operations teams, ensuring systems are handed off in fully operational condition.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in commissioning, instrumentation, controls, or automation on complex industrial, semiconductor, or data center projects.
- Strong understanding of control sequences, instrumentation calibration, PID loops, and system integration.
- Experience with major BAS/BMS platforms (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider, Johnson Controls) and control networks (BACnet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, and network architectures.
- Familiarity with commissioning standards and documentation best practices (LEED Cx, ASHRAE Guideline 0, etc.).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, controls technology, or related field preferred.
- CxA, CEM, or similar certification a plus.
