Overview:Directs the design, planning, building, and maintenance of Boar's Head facilities and properties. Responsible for developing budgets and facility plans based on company growth and future needs. Oversees the functioning of all building and maintenance systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, plumbing, and waste management. Monitors budget and approves contracts. Oversees contractors involved in facility projects and the delivery of services. Ensures building operations comply with all local zoning laws and regulations. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for facilities and develops policies and procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
Job Description:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Oversee and project manage the maintenance functions of all Boar's Head facilities and properties.
- Oversee the functioning of all building systems, including mechanical, electrical, fire safety, plumbing, and waste management.
- Oversee external contractors (electricians, plumbers, mechanical, roofers, painters, landscapers, snow removal, etc.) for all locations.
- Develop and monitor department budget, and monitor equipment and supply inventory at each location.
- Develop, implement, and supervise preventative maintenance and renovation programs for buildings, grounds, mechanical and electrical equipment for all locations.
- Contribute to strategic planning by evaluating and projecting future facility needs and proposing options to achieve them.
- In consultation with the EVP of Operations, make recommendations to hire, lead, and develop the maintenance progression for all employees.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes and guidelines, MSDS, OSHA, EPA regulations, fire codes and other relevant rules and regulations with the leaders at each location.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors, making sure insurance and licenses are current.
- Works closely with the EVP of Operations in creating and scheduling capital budgets.
- Establish and obtain bids for capital projects.
- Oversee maintenance, repairs, and common areas, including refurbishment of equipment.
- Ensure a consistent and streamlined process for all building maintenance.
- Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the preservation of equipment and the achievement of safe working practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- 50% Domestic Travel will be required.
Education and Experience- Minimum of ten (10) years of maintenance management in a manufacturing facility, preferably in the protein industry or other governmental-regulated industry such as food, drug, or cosmetics.
- Expert knowledge of plant manufacturing equipment and systems, including, but not limited to, ammonia refrigeration, hydraulics, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations and related operational best practices.
- Ability to manage complex installation and modification projects involving major capital expenditures.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and apply analytical tools to moderately complex spreadsheets.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with peers and external contacts.
- Ability to supervise and manage the work of others to achieve established goals and objectives.
- Excellent project management, organization, and leadership skills.
- Experience in operational and strategic planning as well as budget development.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills and the ability to manage multiple locations and projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability; ability to think strategically and creatively.
- Computer skills required: Microsoft Office, advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint
- Bachelor's degree in Maintenance and/or Engineering, or related field.
Language Skills- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
- Ability to effectively present information and communicate with all levels of management.
- Must have a strong command of the English Language.
Mathematical Skills- Basic math skills required (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
Reasoning Ability- Must have the ability to define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and deal with problems involving several concrete and non-concrete variables.
- This position requires the ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and be proactive.
- Possess practical and technical skills as well as the ability to communicate the department's objectives in a clear and persuasive manner is essential.
- The ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances and the ability to resolve conflict with minimal assistance are required.
Certificates, Licenses, and RegistrationPhysical Demands- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, stand, bend, walk, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, or controls; may be required to lift up to fifty pounds.
- Vision abilities include close vision to a computer screen.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and moving between work areas in a cold environment.
Work Environment- Work is performed within a manufacturing environment, subjected to cold and warm temperatures, requiring the use of proper PPE.
- Adherence to safety protocols, including wearing PPE (personal protective equipment) as necessary when on the distribution/manufacturing floor.
