Description
SUMMARY:
ProFarm Group (PFG) is a subsidiary of Bioceres Crop Solutions, a global provider of biologically derived fertilizers, inoculants, crop traits, adjuvants, biostimulants and pesticides, serving the ever-expanding agricultural markets. PFG focuses on discovering, developing, and marketing nature-derived biostimulants, as well as pest management products from microbes and plant extracts for the effective control of invertebrate pests, weeds, and plant diseases.
The Production Director oversee management of all areas of manufacturing of our products, both in-house fermentation and formulation as well as contract manufactured products. The in-house production plant is in Bangor, Michigan and contract manufacturing takes place in North America as well as Europe.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Provide the operational leadership and management of PFG's manufacturing plant and contract manufacturers.
• Develop and execute the manufacturing operations strategy that commensurate with the overall plan of the company.
• Develop an organization and environment that maintain compliance with the quality standards employed by the company, in partnership with the strategic quality initiative.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives, to drive operations and ensure maximum productivity.
• Develop and implement policies and programs designed to maximize capacity and ensure the highest quality at the lowest cost in a safe working environment.
• Together with Technology transfer SME facilitate process transfers to in-house or contract manufacturers.
• Ensure manufacturing operations comply with federal, state and local worker safety, public health and environmental requirements.
• Drives resources to address priorities, meet production schedules, maximize productivity, reduce costs, and increase efficiencies through continuous improvement strategies.
• Provide budget input for operational expenditures and work with costing department to ensure accurate standard costing.
• Maintain a long-term investment and capex plan and follow annual capex budget.
• Work with Bioceres Crop Solutions group peers for overall strategic alignment.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, (Bio)Chemical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in microbial production, including process optimization and scale-up with a minimum of 3 years in manufacturing operations management.
Key Competencies:
• Extensive experience in process development of microbial fermentation to increase biomass yield and the production of secondary metabolites in manufacturing scale.
• Experience in technical transfer of processes and formulations to manufacturing facilities.
• Energetic and self-motivated individual able to work in a fast-paced team environment with tight schedule.
• Must have in-depth knowledge of commercial fermentation, downstream processing, and formulation.
• Must have a thorough understanding of analytics and statistics as applied to all processes.
• Must have strong written and verbal communications skills; Responsive; Able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Must be able to handle multiple priorities and delegate responsibilities while maintaining quality.
• Must be creative, highly organized, self-motivated, perceptive, and innovative.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Must be proficient using MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Proficiency in good record keeping, writing and revising technical reports and SOPs. Excellent technical software skills, including fermentation control and data analysis.
• Work with Process Engineering , Tech transfer and R&D to design and implement manufacturing process from inception to completion.
• The candidate should have experience at supervising and motivating managers and staff .
• Must have highly developed individual as well as team performance management skills.
• Management and coaching of group tailored to the specific skill sets and focus of the individuals.
• Technical Oversight of campaigns and projects to ensure expected performance.
• Ensure adequate process monitoring including real time review of process parameters and process data/trend analysis.
• Support of the training and safety program.
• Resolution of issues to ensure a safe operating environment.
• Ensure adequate resolution of operational variances, investigations, etc.
• Guide employees with knowledge and technical knowledge to lead troubleshooting activates, provide investigation support.
• Support of audits including walkthroughs, response, and driving closure of any observation.
• Provide support during audits and with audit observation closure.
• Promotion of an innovative culture.
Travel requirements:
• Travel up to 4-6 weeks per year
