Job Overview: Our client, a leading provider of window and door replacement services, is seeking a
Director of Production to lead their San Diego Production Department through its next phase of growth. This senior leadership role is critical for ensuring quality, timely installations while maintaining operational efficiency, safety, and a consistent customer experience. The Director will serve as a key member of the management team, reporting directly to the COO, and will play a strategic role in workforce planning, training, and operational execution to support sustained double-digit revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities: - Oversee and manage the production team to deliver high-end window and door installations.
- Develop and manage install capacity to meet or exceed company needs.
- Design and deliver technical installation training programs for production staff.
- Ensure quality and consistency of installations; conduct project investigations as necessary.
- Drive a consistent customer experience and monitor Project NPS scores.
- Complete, close, and collect jobs efficiently.
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety across all field production activities.
- Foster a "WIN, WIN, WIN" culture throughout the department.
- Manage labor expenses as a percentage of revenue and achieve company gross margin targets.
- Provide strategic staffing recommendations aligned with budget and revenue goals.
- Recruit, hire, and train carpenters with construction problem-solving skills.
- Share construction knowledge and insights to support installers and carpenters.
- Monitor project completion timelines and communicate progress to operations teams.
- Oversee completion of required documentation for project closeouts.
- Manage customer communications related to projects.
- Promote operational efficiency across the department and the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements Include: Education: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent education in leadership concepts preferred.
Experience: - 10+ years of related management experience.
- 5+ years serving as a Director or senior leader in a comparably-sized or larger organization.
- Proven track record leading residential installation operations with significant influence.
Skills: - Strategic thinking and ability to develop short-term and long-term plans.
- Strong technical aptitude related to residential window and door installation.
- Construction safety knowledge and OSHA competency.
- Familiarity with Lead Safe Work Practices (LSWP) preferred.
- Proficiency with technology to support operational management.
- Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
Certifications: - Contractor's license preferred.
- LSWP certification preferred.
Knowledge: - Detailed knowledge of California residential construction codes and regulations.
- Construction techniques and problem-solving for residential installations.
Key Competencies: - Results-oriented with a strong work ethic and passion for growth.
- Ability to motivate teams and succeed collectively.
- Flexible and adaptable in a changing environment.
- Self-motivated and able to travel out of state approximately six times per year.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
