DescriptionPRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY The Technical Director (TDIR) is a senior technical and operational leader responsible for ensuring that Carter BloodCare's blood products are safely and efficiently processed, stored, and delivered to meet patient and hospital needs. The TDIR oversees Distribution, Component Production, Testing, and Labeling operations across North, East, and Central Texas. This role manages all departmental functions in a complex, highly regulated environment, ensuring consistent procedures, processes, and compliance across all sites.
The TDIR develops and implements departmental procedures, validations, and regulatory initiatives; advises senior management; and maintains strong communication with hospital and laboratory representatives. The position coordinates with other departments to meet organizational objectives and leads cross-functional projects and process improvements. Regular, in-person collaboration with staff, leadership, and customers is required.
Periodic travel between assigned work area to support other locations/projects in North, Central and East Texas is required.

QualificationsEDUCATION- Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred
- MLS degree or equivalent, required
EXPERIENCE- Minimum of ten years of experience in blood bank administration/management; required; and
- Minimum of five years of experience in blood banking with experience in inventory management and a working knowledge of component production issues, required; and
- Minimum of five years of experience in blood bank laboratory operations, including product quality control and quality assurance activities, required; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE- Strong leadership, planning, and organizational abilities, with sound judgment and decisiveness in complex or unprecedented situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all team members, staff, peers, and hospital representatives
- Proven ability to build, lead, and motivate a diverse workforce toward common objectives
- Advanced computer proficiency, including experience with blood banking and inventory management software and related applications
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills; capable of prioritizing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of AABB standards and FDA regulations governing the production, testing, labeling, storage, and distribution of blood products.
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, employment law, departmental planning, cost accounting, and budgeting
- Ability to make timely, critical decisions under pressure with minimal supervision while maintaining professionalism and regulatory compliance
