Key responsibilities
Are you a seasoned marine engineer seeking a dynamic shore-based role? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where your decisions have a direct operational and financial impact? If so, we invite you to join Maersk as a Bunker Superintendent.
In this role, you will support our fleet by managing bunkering operations onboard vessels calling at the Port of Tanjung Pelepas & Singapore. Your presence onboard will help ensure compliance with MLC rest hour requirements by relieving vessel crew of bunkering responsibilities during port calls. This is a shore-based role with onboard duties during port stays (note: this is not a sailing position).
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with vessel command, Energy Trading Operations, TbM, and agents prior to vessel arrival to ensure operational readiness and schedule adherence.
- Familiarize yourself with the vessel’s fuel transfer systems to ensure safe and efficient bunkering operations.
- Supervise fuel bunkering activities onboard, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and alignment with pre-bunkering agreements.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of documentation, including Bunker Delivery Notes (BDN), Oil Record Book (ORB) entries, and relevant checklists.
- Capture and share operational feedback and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement across the fleet.
We’re looking for
- Marine Engineering Background: Chief or Second Engineer with sailing experience on EEE, 19K, or H-class vessels preferred. Engineers from other containership classes will also be considered.
- Operational Excellence: Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent command of English and strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Safety-First Mindset: Deep understanding of maritime safety standards and a proactive approach to risk management.
