Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Air Conditioning) – Job Description
- If you are an experienced Sr. Mechanical Engineer, preferably with a Professional Engineering license in California, we have an opening for you in our Engineering Department for HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning). You must be someone who can complete HVAC calculations and system engineering design to support various non-residential HVAC design build projects.

Job Responsibilities
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for key duties, including:
- You will perform full HVAC system design calculations, duct and pipe sizing and routing, and detailed system design for non-residential HVAC projects, which includes heat load calculations and preparation plans and specifications for permits.
- You will specify HVAC equipment and system accessories for layout.
- Expert in Energy Pro Software for HVAC heat load analysis and Title 24 Energy compliance reports.
- You will attend job walks to gather required field information for HVAC system design.
- You will size and design systems such as air-cooled and water-cooled systems with AC, chillers, ventilation fans, controls, and pumps and so forth.
- Completing other related engineering and design tasks assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Proficiency with Energy Pro and AutoCAD software.
- Have experience in the HVAC air conditioning industry.
- Must have knowledge of various air conditioning systems, including heat pumps, package AC systems, split AC systems, VRF systems, chiller systems, boilers, ductwork, and ventilation systems.
- Familiar with non-residential HVAC system design and calculations.
- Knowledge of California building and mechanical codes and ASHRAE standards.
- Person with an engineering degree and active registered Professional Engineering license in CA is preferred.
