Company Overview & Position Description
EpiBone is a clinical-stage company that develops revolutionary tissue engineered products for skeletal repair, and is offering the chance to work with the company to support the clinical translation of innovative regenerative stem cell therapies. We are seeking a biomedical engineer tech to assist in the manufacture of biomaterials and bioreactor components per cGMP protocols at our facility in Horsham, PA. The engineer will also develop, design, and test prototypes for tissue product manufacturing. The engineer will report to the Head of Engineering.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Operate machinery such as band saws, CNC mills, 3D printers, lathe, and laser cutter to manufacture components
- Operate in controlled environments for bioprocessing and component preparation including washing and packaging
- Assist with production of EpiBone’s decellularized bone scaffold manufacturing
- Assist with select quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) tasks
- Maintain equipment calibration, inventory, and updated SOPs for manufacturing
- Maintain accurate batch records and test data per good documentation practices (GDP)
- Liaise with external collaborators or contractors to assist with training and troubleshooting
- Design, prototype, and test products throughout an iterative design control process
- Plan research experiments, interpret data, and generate technical reports
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields with 0-2 years of work experience
- Has experience with 3D design software (eg. SolidWorks and Mastercam)
- Familiar with machine shop tool use and safety
- Comfortable processing animal tissues for biomaterial preparation
- Understands engineering design process, risk management, and good documentation practices
- Has experience with data analysis software and technical writing
- Can operate independently, collaborate in a team, and easily adapt to rapidly changing project plan or timeline
Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of the iterative design process and strong troubleshooting experience
- Working knowledge of computer hardware and coding languages (Matlab, C, Python)
