Assistant Civil Engineer Position
We are a small, well established consulting civil engineering firm located in Chico, California that provides a broad range of civil engineering and land surveying services to both public and private clients.
Job Description
Assistant Civil Engineers are involved with designing infrastructure projects, preparation of technical studies and construction cost estimates. Work could include office and field duties. Assistant Civil Engineers will coordinate with others in the office including Drafters and the managing engineer. This position requires strong verbal and written communication skills and good organizational skills.
Typical Duties and Skills
The following duties are representative of what is typically required of Assistant Civil Engineers, although competency in additional duties beyond the scope of this list are a valued contribution to both individual professional growth as well as the overall success of the project team.
- Design and preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports for various infrastructure projects such as residential subdivisions, commercial developments, streets, storm drainage systems, sanitary sewer systems, water systems, pumping stations, and onsite wastewater disposal systems.
- Possession of strong written and oral communication skills. Coordinating with others in the office.
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Registration as an Engineer in Training in the state of California or progressing to obtaining this registration.
- Experience with Autodesk Civil 3d, MS Word and MS Excel software.
- Experience with residential, commercial, municipal and school projects is desirable.
- Have an interest and commitment to learning, professional development and undertaking of increased responsibilities.
