Professional Engineer (PE) - Civil/Structural Focus
Position Overview: As a licensed Professional Engineer in our new engineering division at Icon Construction, you will lead civil and structural engineering efforts for residential home building and land development projects. You will design, review, and stamp plans to ensure compliance with Oregon codes, collaborating closely with our in-house architect and excavation team. This role emphasizes efficiency, cost control, and seamless integration to reduce project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform civil engineering designs for land development, including site grading, stormwater management, utilities, and erosion control.
- Conduct structural calculations and designs for residential structures (e.g., foundations, framing, seismic retrofits) using software like ETABS or SAP2000.
- Stamp and certify engineering plans, calculations, and reports as required for permitting and construction.
- Review and integrate engineering inputs into architectural plans prepared by our in-house architect.
- Oversee the engineering designer, providing guidance on drafting and revisions.
- Coordinate with project teams to resolve issues, conduct site visits, and ensure designs align with construction feasibility.
- Ensure all work complies with Oregon Residential Specialty Code, OSBEELS ethics, and local regulations.
- Contribute to project bidding, cost estimates, and value engineering for cost savings.
- Stay current with continuing education (30 PDH biennially) and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Oregon, with civil engineering discipline; structural experience preferred (e.g., via NCEES structural exam or equivalent).
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in civil/structural engineering for residential and land development projects.
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., Civil 3D, AutoCAD, structural analysis tools).
- Strong knowledge of Oregon building codes and permitting processes.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
