DescriptionJob Summary: The Project Engineer in District Services will work alongside Project Managers (PM) to design and coordinate the development of construction drawings, specifications, and construction contract documents for Municipal Utility Districts ("MUD" or "District") that include water distribution lines, wastewater collection lines, storm sewer collection systems, paving, grading, drainage, and other related items. Assist in managing multiple concurrent projects, from commencement through initial design and construction, to agency acceptance, with the assistance of a PM. Implements developed time management skills to and follow design & construction schedules, multi-tasking, and coordination. Able to assist in leading design meetings and provide updates on project status to PM and District Engineer, which may include attending select MUD meetings, Agency meetings, and other related meetings associated with projects the Project Engineer is working on. Typically works with minimal supervision on standard assignments, conferring with PM on unusual matters.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities: - Assist in concept development and participate in the design analyses of engineering systems independently evaluating, selecting, and applying scientific or engineering procedures and techniques to assignments.
- Design projects of small or moderate size and scope; make substantial contributions to determining feasibility of goals and objectives; identify and communicate problems and related technical issues; implement technical approach for solving problems and meeting project needs.
- Plan and perform sub-tasks within the project scope; draft/co-author reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Interact in a collaborative manner with other team members to accomplish team goals; provide ideas to improve team efficiency at group and department levels.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, new regulations and changing market conditions that can impact the services provided and the need of the Districts.
- May be required to seal construction documents or other documents (developed under the employee's direct professional supervision) required to be submitted for review by local authority having jurisdiction, etc.
- Grow personal development of technical, project, and business development skills.
- Provide engineering design and preparation of construction drawings and specifications for standard to moderate complexity engineering projects.
- Aid PM with establishing scope of work, budget and design direction for projects; establish and maintain design and construction schedules and budgets.
- Serve as point of information and contact related to meeting minutes, shop drawings, reviewing logs, change order reviews and logs, and answering requests for information.
- Provide project status updates throughout design and construction.
- Perform most project design functions in registered discipline.
- Provide professional consultation to company personnel requiring Engineering advice or direction.
- Aid in the professional development of engineers-in-training and designers.
- Serve on committees as requested.

Work Environment: - This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing systems and security devices.
- The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to construction areas, which may require traversing difficult terrain and the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, hard hats, and mandatory hearing protection, etc.
Education, certification and experience: - 4-6 years related experience.
- Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Engineering or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Required Certifications, Registrations or Licensure:PE license required.
- Valid TX Driver's License and ability to operate a motor vehicle may be required.
Physical Requirements: - This is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate project plans both orally and in writing.
- The employee is occasionally required to move about the office to operate office productivity machinery or maneuver through a construction site safely.
- May require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
- The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
