Overview
Our healthcare client is seeking an experienced Data Engineer with strong expertise in Snowflake to design, build, and optimize modern data pipelines and scalable data platforms. This role plays a key part in enabling clinical analytics, population health insights, regulatory reporting, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with healthcare data ecosystems, strong knowledge of Snowflake data warehousing, and the ability to build secure, reliable ETL/ELT pipelines in compliance with HIPAA and healthcare data standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesSnowflake Engineering
- Design, develop, and optimize Snowflake data warehouses, including schema design, clustering, data modeling, and performance tuning.
- Create and manage Snowflake objects (databases, schemas, stages, pipes, streams, tasks, warehouses).
- Support Snowflake data ingestion, including external tables, data sharing, Snowpipe, and continuous ingestion frameworks.
Data Pipeline Development
- Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for clinical, operational, and financial healthcare datasets.
- Integrate data from multiple healthcare systems (EHR/EMR, claims, HL7, FHIR, third-party data feeds).
- Develop workflows using tools such as Airflow, dbt, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or equivalent orchestration platforms.
Cloud & Architecture
- Design and support cloud-based data architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with strong emphasis on Snowflake best practices.
- Implement secure data storage, access patterns, and data lifecycle management in compliance with HIPAA.
Data Quality & Governance
- Implement and maintain data quality rules, validation frameworks, and data lineage tracking.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare data governance, PHI handling, and security policies.
- Collaborate with data governance and compliance teams to enforce standards across the data pipeline.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
- Work closely with analysts, data scientists, and clinical/operational teams to understand data needs.
- Troubleshoot data pipeline issues and optimize performance for large-scale healthcare datasets.
- Translate business requirements into scalable data engineering solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 3–7+ years of data engineering experience, preferably in healthcare or regulated industries.
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including:
- Snowflake SQL
- Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks
- Time Travel, Clustering, Secure Views
- Performance tuning and warehouse optimization
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools (dbt, Airflow, Matillion, Fivetran, Informatica, or similar).
- Experience working with healthcare data formats (FHIR, HL7, CCD, X12, claims, etc.) strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, MPP architectures, and dimensional modeling.
- Familiarity with HIPAA security and compliance requirements.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with healthcare analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
- Experience integrating EHR/EMR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Athena).
- Knowledge of data cataloging, governance, and metadata management tools.
- Experience working with DevOps principles, Git, and CI/CD workflows.
- Certifications in Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Pay: $50.00 - $70.00 per hour
