Sensor Engineer Job Summary & Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and have Project Management and Supplier Development experience with 2- 4 years of relevant experience. The candidate will be responsible to support the development and coordination of all activities for technical customers, suppliers and technicians to speed development of new sensor technologies.
Sensor Engineer Responsibilities
- Project Management - work with team to plan, organize and direct work to meet schedules
- Work cross-functionally to create, review and document sensor technical profiles.
- Create, revise, review, release and document Cummins specifications (Performance, Source Approval, Inspection, Application, Design).
- Procure, inspect and deliver sensors to customers for performance, reliability, bench and field testing.
- Review and document the Integrated Design and Process FMEA’s between suppliers and customers using Cummins’ standard format.
- Create development verification plan and report (DVP&R) for performance, reliability, and durability testing.
- Review Design Validation test results and resolve issues using the 7-step problem solving process or Fault Tree Analysis.
- Write Engineering Job Requests for releases of drawings, part numbers and specifications.
- Perform warranty analysis and partner with suppliers to improve product quality.
Prepare and deliver technical status presentations and conduct cross-functional design reviews and document them.
Sensor Engineer Desired Skills
- Sensor experience a plus
- Project management skills
- Basic electronic component and controls understanding and capability
- Understand and be able to support the Product Development process from concept to production
- Automotive experience and mechanical aptitude
- Good communication skills - both verbal and written
Sensor Engineer Education & Work Experience
BS in Engineering required. Minimum 2 - 4 years’ experience.
