SAP SPECIALIST - MATERIALS MANAGEMENT
Reports to: Materials, Logistics and Customs Lead
Role Purpose:
This role provides deep expertise in SAP Materials Management (MM) and Logistics Execution (LE) to support the client's upstream oil and gas operations. The position is critical in ensuring that procurement, inventory management, warehouse operations, and shipping processes are fully integrated, compliant, and optimised within SAP.
You will act as the functional bridge between business users and SAP technical teams, translating operational requirements into system solutions and driving continuous improvement across the supply chain. Key responsibilities include:
This role will be recognised as the subject matter expert in SAP MM and LE for Materials and Logistics Management within an oil and gas operator. By embedding best practice in ERP usage, you will enable efficient, reliable, and sustainable supply chain performance that underpins the client's operational success.

SAP Materials Management (MM) - Configure, support, and optimise procurement, goods receipt, and materials tracking processes.
Shipping & Logistics - Oversee SAP processes for outbound deliveries, transport planning, and customs documentation.
Process Optimisation - Identify gaps and implement SAP and Industry best practices to streamline supply chain operations.
User Support & Training - Provide guidance, training, and troubleshooting for end-users across supply chain functions.
Integration - Collaborate with Finance, Production, and Maintenance teams to ensure seamless SAP integration.
Compliance - Ensure adherence to industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies in all SAP-related processes
Enrol stakeholders in supporting and optimising the strategy
Identifying and overcoming impediments to an optimum SAP support strategy
Building relationships with other operating and contracting companies to collaborate on optimising the Materials and Logistics SAP functionality wherever economically advantageous
Exploit any industry initiatives which present opportunities for the client
Aid in the development and maintain good relationships with internal stakeholders
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with operators, contractors and suppliers in the SAP community.
Review and update materials and logistics SAP processes and procedures as required in the company.
Key Material Management member of an SAP Design Authority covering alignment of business needs with the SAP design and maintaining design integrity.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a SAP Specialist/Consultant in the Oil & Gas industry.
Strong knowledge of SAP MM, WM (Warehouse Management), and SD (Shipping/Distribution) modules.
Understanding of inventory control, shipping documentation, and warehouse operations in a regulated environment.
Understanding of oil & gas supply chain processes, including offshore logistics and materials tracking.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate business needs into SAP solutions.
Strong communication skills to liaise with stakeholders across technical and operational teams
Experience with SAP IS-Oil solutions.
Understanding of customs, compliance, and barrier management in logistics
Ability to manage system upgrades, migrations, and enhancements

Degree level or equivalent industry experience
