MPD / UBD Supervisor - Rig Based

Performance Energy are supporting a major international drilling programme and are seeking an experienced MPD / UBD Supervisor for rig-based operations across land and offshore jack-up environments in the Middle East region.
This is a technically demanding position suited to drilling professionals with strong Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) experience and a proven ability to troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic control systems in harsh, high-temperature environments.
The Role
As MPD / UBD Supervisor, you will lead and deliver safe, efficient pressure control operations on live drilling sites. You will oversee MPD systems on land and offshore jack-up rigs, with additional exposure to Underbalanced Drilling (UBD) operations highly advantageous.
You will play a critical role in maintaining wellbore stability, managing losses (including total loss scenarios), and ensuring safe pressure control while minimising formation damage.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and execute Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) operations
Support Underbalanced Drilling (UBD) activities where required
Operate within land and offshore jack-up rig environments
Troubleshoot and maintain MPD/UBD control systems
Manage pneumatic and hydraulic systems supporting choke manifolds and well control equipment
Interpret hydraulic schematics and conduct preventative maintenance
Diagnose pressure drops, actuator faults, contamination and system failures
Maintain safe well control standards under challenging drilling conditions
Work effectively in high heat and remote operational environments
Technical Requirements
Essential
Minimum 3+ years' MPD experience in rig-based operations
Strong troubleshooting capability in:
Pneumatic systems
Hydraulic systems
Experience with automated choke manifolds
Knowledge of RCD systems
Exposure to BOP-related hydraulic control systems
Strong English communication skills
Proven ability to operate in harsh, high-temperature drilling environments
Highly Advantageous
Underbalanced Drilling (UBD) background
Offshore jack-up rig exposure
Experience drilling in total loss conditions
Experience with industry-standard MPD software and setpoint control systems
Systems & Equipment Exposure
Candidates should have experience working with:
Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) systems
Underbalanced Drilling (UBD) systems
Pneumatic air supply networks and regulators
Hydraulic pumps, hoses, cylinders and accumulators
Automated choke manifold systems
Rotating Control Device (RCD) systems
Well control and pipe handling hydraulic systems
Industry-standard rig instrumentation and safety panels
Candidate Profile

Communicate clearly within multinational rig teams
