Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Certification Engineer to support FAA certification activities for aircraft modifications and design changes. The ideal candidate will have strong FAA regulatory knowledge, aerospace industry experience, and demonstrated success preparing certification documentation and managing STC projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support certification projects to achieve timely FAA STC approvals
- Prepare FAA certification deliverables, including:
- Certification plans & compliance checklists
- Manual supplements and substantiation reports
- Test plans and test reports
- Coordinate engineering activities through development, implementation, installation, conformity, and certification phases
- Submit certification data and interface directly with FAA personnel
- Work with DERs and ensure proper approval of Type Design changes
- Ensure compliance with Airworthiness Directives and manage AMOCs as required
- Review and validate engineering data for compliance with FAA requirements
- Evaluate customer technical data and documentation for regulatory compliance
- Maintain ongoing communication with FAA and resolve technical issues
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of FAA certification experience
- 4+ years as a Certification Engineer
- Aerospace industry experience (commercial aviation preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations, certification processes, and airworthiness requirements
- Proficient with engineering drawings and documentation, including:
- SRMs (Structural Repair Manuals)
- AMMs (Aircraft Maintenance Manuals)
- SBs (Service Bulletins)
- IPCs (Illustrated Parts Catalogs)
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience interfacing with FAA DERs and certification authorities
- Ability to work effectively across multi-discipline engineering teams
- Prior experience with enterprise maintenance/engineering systems
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
