Position Summary
The Color Engineer will work within the Colour Laboratory and play a key role in the development, formulation, validation, and industrialization of color solutions for PVC and related products. This role bridges Color Engineering with Design and Production to ensure color consistency, quality, and performance.
Candidate Profile – Color Engineering
· Master’s or PhD in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field
· Strong understanding of physics and engineering-level principles
· Knowledge of raw materials, products, and processes, preferably in PVC
· 3–5 years of experience in a similar role (preferred)
· Knowledge of analysis and problem-solving tools
· Proactive, resilient, responsible, and assertive
· Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
· Good communication and teamwork abilities
· Industrial management knowledge is a plus
· Portuguese speaking skills are a plus
Key Responsibilities
· Connects Color Engineering with Design in the development of new colors
· Studies and develops formulations for colors, pastes, and paints
· Computerize color, paste, and paint recipes
· Creates, associates, and manages technical sheets (TS) for semi-finished products (SF)
· Defines intermediate color limits and supports finished product limit definition
· Creates, associates, and manages technical sheets (TS) for finished color products
· Analyzes color and gloss behavior throughout the process and across batches
· Follows experience plans (EP) and series production
· Participates in technical validation checklists and project meetings
· Requests costing for computerized or adjusted pastes and paints
· Develops color matching and color finding solutions
· Participates in multidisciplinary problem-solving teams (complaints, PACs, etc.)
· Manages performance indicators for the unit
· Performs reception control tests and testing of pigmented semi-finished products
· Records adjustments and quantities in AD systems
· Proposes optimization of color recipes
· Studies and monitors color reprocessing in series production
Authorities
· Define color limits for intermediate phases
· Define color formulations for semi-finished and finished products during project phases
· Block non-conforming raw materials (NOK)
· Inform Production of OK/NOK status of semi-finished products and articles
