Build the Future of Control Panel Manufacturing
At Automated Drive Systems, we believe electrical control panel manufacturing can be dramatically better. More precise. More digital. More lean. Engineering should not create paperwork. Engineering should create a complete digital twin that flows directly into production. When engineering is done right, design flows directly into CNC enclosure modification, automated DIN rail and duct cutting, precise component mounting, clean wiring, and confident testing. This is the system we are building. We are looking for a senior engineer who wants to help build it.
What You Will Help Build
You will design industrial control panels and automation systems that power equipment used across North America. More importantly, you will help build the engineering system that allows panels to move from design to production with speed, precision, and clarity. At Automated Drive Systems, engineering drives manufacturing. Your work will support CNC enclosure modification, automated DIN rail and duct cutting, digitally guided assembly, wire automation, and high‑quality UL508A panel production. Your designs will not sit in a folder. They will move through a fully integrated digital manufacturing environment.
What This Role Looks Like
80% Engineering Design – Design electrical control panels and automation systems using EPLAN Electric P8 and EPLAN Pro Panel. Apply UL508A compliant design practices to VFD systems, soft start systems, motor control panels, and industrial automation panels. Primary technologies include Rockwell Automation platforms, Codesys based systems, industrial networking, and motor control systems. 10% Continuous Improvement – Engineering is never finished. You will help improve engineering standards, design reuse, automation of engineering tasks, manufacturability of designs, and engineering workflows. Every engineer at Automated Drive Systems participates in weekly self‑directed improvement time. 10% Technical Collaboration – Work closely with production technicians, purchasing, operations, and leadership to continuously improve manufacturability and engineering systems.
What Great Looks Like
The right engineer for this role cares deeply about craftsmanship and takes pride in clean, precise designs. You think about how designs are built, not just how they appear on drawings. You solve problems calmly and methodically. You enjoy refining standards, simplifying designs, and improving systems over time. You take ownership of your work and continuously look for ways to eliminate waste and make the engineering system better.
Technologies You Will Work With
EPLAN Electric P8, EPLAN Pro Panel, UL508A panel design, a variety of PLC platforms, Variable Frequency Drives, Soft starters, Motor control systems, Industrial power distribution. Experience with EPLAN and Pro Panel is highly preferred, but strong engineers who learn quickly are encouraged to apply.
What Makes Automated Drive Systems Different
Many panel shops operate with engineering producing drawings and the shop figuring out the rest. We reject that model. Engineering at ADS produces a complete digital manufacturing package. Our facility integrates CNC enclosure machining, automated wire processing, digital work instructions, EPLAN‑driven production, and lean manufacturing systems. We are building a new standard for panel manufacturing.
Our Culture
Great companies are built by great people improving systems every day. Every employee at Automated Drive Systems receives paid self‑directed improvement time each week to improve processes, build tools, refine systems, and continue learning. Ideas are not buried in meetings. They are tested and implemented on the shop floor.
Compensation
Salary range: $100,000 – $140,000 based on experience, technical expertise, and familiarity with EPLAN. Benefits include health coverage, retirement plan, and professional development opportunities.
Location
This position is 100% onsite in Omaha, Nebraska. We believe the best engineering happens when engineers are closely connected to the manufacturing floor.
