This role combines deep domain expertise with strategic thinking to design scalable, secure, and resilient solutions that influence technology direction beyond a single product or team.The Engineer 5 maintains awareness of emerging blockchain and Web3-inspired patterns and ecosystems, applying these insights thoughtfully to architectural decision-making while ensuring all solutions adhere to enterprise-grade design principles, strong governance, and operational rigor appropriate for a large financial institution.As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, the Engineer 5 translates business strategy into technical direction, drives long-term architectural consistency, and mentors architects and engineers across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide architectural leadership for blockchain-enabled initiatives, including:Tokenized depositsDigital assetsDistributed settlement use casesEnsure all architectures meet bank-grade security, resiliency, availability, and regulatory requirements.Design hybrid architectures integrating:Distributed ledger platformsCore banking systemsPayment platformsEnterprise data storesEvent-driven and microservices-based systemsDefine and govern appropriate on-chain vs. off-chain responsibilities, including:Smart contractsOrchestration servicesAPI layersOperational and monitoring controlsEvaluate and guide the use of:Permissioned distributed ledger technologiesIdentity and access management modelsPrivacy-preserving architecturesGovernance frameworks suitable for regulated environmentsEstablish architectural guardrails and best practices for emerging digital asset and blockchain capabilities with a focus on:InteroperabilityMaintainabilityAvoidance of vendor lock-inProvide thought leadership on where blockchain adds clear business value versus where traditional platforms are more appropriate.Lead cross-functional architectural alignment and influence technology strategy across multiple teams and domains.Mentor architects and senior engineers, elevating architectural maturity and engineering excellence.Required Expertise & QualificationsProven experience as a senior architect or technical leader in large-scale, regulated enterprise environments.Strong mastery of:Enterprise and solution architecture patternsCloud and modern engineering practicesNon-functional requirements (performance, resiliency, security, observability)Experience designing and reviewing architectures involving:Payments, liquidity, settlements, or financial market infrastructureFamiliarity with blockchain concepts and platforms, including:Permissioned distributed ledgersPrivacy and identity modelsGovernance and operational frameworksUnderstanding of smart contracts as deterministic business rule enforcement, not workflow orchestration.Ability to translate business strategy and regulatory constraints into clear, actionable technical direction.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level engagement.Leadership ExpectationsActs as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.Drives long-term architectural consistency and innovation.Provides clear guidance, mentorship, and technical influence across engineering and architecture communities.Balances innovation with risk management, compliance, and operational excellence.SkillsEqual opportunity Employer:Mphasis is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
