We are a dynamic team of professionals supplying our highly successful technology-based products worldwide. We are seeking an organized, efficient, self-starter with an enthusiastic attitude to join our Engineering team.
Naiad Dynamics is seeking an electrical engineer or technologist with a strong background in distributed control systems electronics and computer networks to assist in hardware development at our Shelton, Connecticut office. The successful candidate will become a member of a highly skilled team working on a variety of interesting and challenging projects.
Responsibilities
- Project engineering work implementing networked electronic control systems for stabilizing ship motions.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team to continue development of shipboard distributed embedded motion control systems.
- Identify creative solutions to meet customer requirements, and assess feasibility.
- Full spectrum of product development (concept, specifications gather, design, implementation, test, debug, production, and support)
- Design, debug, test, and authorize and production of special purpose electronics used as part of active ship motion control systems
- Champion product quality and assume responsibility for timelines of project completions
- Other design related work as appropriate
- Prepare drawings, technical reports and documentation
- Occasional field support to evaluate, test calibrate, commission and record data of our systems onboard ships.

Candidate Requirements
- BS Electrical Engineering or BS Electrical Engineering Technology
- Minimum 5 years' experience in electronics system integration
- Experience in a hardware development environment
- Must have a strong foundation in distributed control system design and implementation
- Must be proficient in the use of disciplined, modular, analog and digital design techniques
- Familiarity with environmental effects on circuit performance and mitigation techniques
- Experience interfacing with sensors and performing signal conversions
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. - U.S. citizen preferred
Beneficial Skills/Education
- MS Electrical Engineering
- Marine experience (Naval service, Cost Guard service, merchant marine, etc.)
- Experience n electronics hardware integration of a networked system
- Experience developing hardware interfacing with firmware for 8/16-bit microcontrollers in C or C++
- Experience with ARM and PIC Microcontrollers, PLCs and CAN-Bus networks
- Experience in Printed Circuit Board design using Altium
- Experience with PLC programming
- Experience with AC and DC motor control
- Experience with closed loop control of electrical and hydraulic actuators and devices
- Experience with AutoCAD or Draftsight CAE drafting programs and electric system drawing creation
