Position Description
HOH is seeking an Electrical Engineer experienced in delivering electrical design for vertical structures. Engineering for various building types such as municipal, transportation, commercial, healthcare, industrial, and energy sectors, utilizing both traditional and alternative delivery methods. This role plays a key part in delivering innovative and technically sound solutions through close collaboration with our in-house multidisciplinary team.
Core Engineering & Design Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards:
- National Fire Protection Association (NEC / NFPA 70)
- Chicago Electrical Code and other local codes
- Energy codes
- Develop electrical system designs for:
- Power distribution (medium/low voltage systems)
- EV Charging Infrastructure
- Lighting and Controls (interior, exterior, emergency)
- Grounding and bonding systems
- Fire alarm and life safety systems
- Low-voltage systems (data, telecom, security)
- Perform load calculations and demand analysis
- Produce one-line diagrams, riser diagrams, and layout drawings
- Prepare specifications
- Power Systems & Backup Infrastructure:
- Design normal and emergency power systems
- Generators
- UPS systems (critical loads, data centers)
- Automatic transfer switches (ATS)
- Perform engineering studies:
- Existing conditions assessment
- Load flow and voltage drop, Short-circuit analysis, Protective device coordination
- Evaluate energy usage and efficiency
- Support sustainability goals (LEED, electrification)
- Field Surveying existing conditions
- Construction Administration
Project Management & Leadership Responsibilities
- Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budget
- Mentor junior engineers and designers
- Interface with clients and stakeholders
- Quality control
Qualifications
- PE in Electrical Engineering in the State of Illinois is preferred.
- Stamp/seal drawings as a licensed PE.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design.
- Previous commissioning experience a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in Revit and AUTOCAD

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
