Primary Function The Technical Director works independently and collaboratively with production team members to deliver flawless live events and recordings. This role requires exceptional client service skills, strong leadership abilities, and advanced technical and operational expertise across broadcast, streaming, and live event environments.

Duties & Responsibilities - Operate/oversee live switching, routing, monitoring, and show control.
- Implement cueing/talkback, redundancy, and incident response.
- Mentor operators; maintain SOPs, checklists, and rehearsal protocols.
- Partner with engineering on readiness tests and upgrades
- Serve as the leader of the control room, managing productions independently or in collaboration with Directors, Producers, and other stakeholders for broadcast, streaming, and live in person events.
- Ensure the creative vision and production standards are consistently executed across all events.
- Oversee the efficient and effective use of IMF event, studio, and meeting spaces.
- Coordinate with Technical Operators to deliver high quality graphics, playback, scripts and teleprompter/autocue, incoming video sources, and streaming destinations for large scale events.
- Direct smaller productions by self operating robotic cameras, audio systems, playback systems, and lighting within IMF studios and event spaces.
- Perform routine testing of studio and event space equipment; coordinate with engineering teams for timely repair or replacement as needed.
- Develop, implement, and document standard operating procedures and workflows; organizational structures, recommend and drive continuous improvements to meet changing business needs and ensure contractual compliance.
- Ensure proper care, maintenance, and storage of IMF studio sets and scenic elements in broadcast and large event spaces.
- Provide technical support for major event setups and serve as backup for other AV/Broadcast Technicians as required.
- Support video teleconferencing systems, including setup, operation, troubleshooting, and system management.
- As the industry rapidly evolves, stay current with tools in AI technical production support, be aware of the impacts of AI and generative AI tools at various stages of development, and how to leverage AI for scale and speed in workflows.
- Coordinate, capture, mix, and deliver live and post produced video and audio content; graphics, playback, and coordinate with AV Core staff to record programs and camera feeds to shared storage or live distribution systems.
- Establish and manage connections for transmitting live program content to external media outlets.
- Work extended hours as needed, including occasional evenings and weekends for special events.
- Deliver excellent customer service in all aspects of the role.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications - Demonstrated expertise with control room operations, virtual and hybrid production systems, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency with conferencing platforms such as Webex, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
- Hands on experience with microphone systems, digital audio consoles, video systems, lighting equipment, and videoconferencing technologies.
- Willingness to cross-train and support multiple roles with a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Solid understanding of studio lighting, still photography, graphics and animation, and multimedia distribution workflows.
- Curiosity and interest in innovation is encouraged and an understanding of the principles, ethics, and modalities of AI and generative artificial intelligence (AI) and their audio/video applications.
- Communication skills with ability to train teams and translate complex technical concepts across departments.
- Familiarity with Ross Xpression, Barco, and ShoFlo systems is preferred.
Education & Experience - Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a broadcast or professional AV environment with additional 1-2 years of experience as a Technical Director or live events Director.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Communications, Visual Arts, or a related field is preferred.
- CTS Certifications are desired; we support all employees in obtaining their appropriate CTS credentials.
