Overview
A manufacturing engineer supports safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance across production, owning daily process improvements while shaping future‑state strategies. This leadership role interacts with employees at all levels and operates across Farbest and JFS facilities.
Reports To: The position reports to the Continuous Improvement Manager and partners closely with operations, maintenance, quality, and EHS.
Key responsibilities
- Daily improvement leadership: Lead root cause analyses, implement corrective actions, and sustain gains through standard work and visual management.
- Process design and validation: Define and validate production processes, line balance, and layouts; author and maintain SOPs and PFMEAs.
- Automation and controls: Identify opportunities to automate; lead scoping, vendor engagement, installation, commissioning, and hand‑off with training.
- Cost and yield optimization: Quantify savings, Advanced proficiency in Excel is required, track ROI, and deliver projects that reduce waste, improve yields, and increase throughput.
- Quality and compliance: Partner with QA/EHS to ensure processes meet food safety and regulatory requirements; mitigate risks and close audits.
- Equipment performance: Serve as equipment specialist; improve uptime, OEE, and PM effectiveness; ensure operations meet intent.
- Project management: Build and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and pace‑to‑plan activities to deliver safe, complete, on‑time outcomes.
- Communication and change management: Lead meetings, present plans and results, develop communication cadences, and align teams around priorities.
- Standardization and governance: Create standardized review systems, documented hand‑offs, clear ownership, and oversight frequencies.
- Vendor and partner collaboration: Work with equipment vendors and partners to evaluate solutions and streamline processes across sites.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
Education:
· BS degree preferred
Experience
- 3-years in production/manufacturing environments with demonstrated project delivery and process improvement
- 2-3 years of leadership experience including, but not limited to project and team management, leading meetings and presentations, and strong demonstration of communicative abilities.
Technical skills: Process design, validation, line balancing, equipment capability, control systems basics, and data analysis.
Software: Advanced proficiency in Excel; strong skills in Word, PowerPoint, and project planning tools; familiarity with CAD and CMMS is a plus.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
