Position Overview
The Project Engineer is a highly technical, detail-oriented remote role. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this is a dual-hatted role designed to relieve our senior technical staff of administrative and technical bottlenecks across Marolf Environmental and NexCore.
This position spans three key divisions: Wastewater, Lift Station, and Electrical. You will take ownership of the technical documentation lifecycle—including submittals, permitting, and material speccing—while utilizing CAD to design shop-ready electrical assemblies. This is a remote position: you will work remotely on CAD design and documentation. As the company grows, this role will serve as the foundation to build out a supporting engineering and drafting team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Wastewater Division
- As-Built Engineering: Produce accurate as-built drawings for onsite builds of Wastewater Plants.
- Estimating Support: Assist the estimating team with technical reviews and takeoffs for wastewater projects as needed.
2. Lift Station Division
- As-Built Engineering: Produce accurate as-built drawings for onsite builds of Lift Stations.
- Estimating Support: Assist the estimating team with technical reviews and takeoffs for lift station projects as needed.
3. Electrical Division (NexCore)
- Pre-Engineering Design: Create engineered as-built drawings and coordinate with our Engineers of Record to produce the final engineered electrical drawings required for permitting.
- Submittals & Permitting: Take full ownership of filling out technical packets for permitting, submittals, and RFIs, relieving senior staff (Ralph) of this administrative burden.
- Estimating Quality Control: Review estimating take-offs to confirm accuracy and ensure no major scope or materials are missed prior to bid submission.
- Technical Procurement: Place technical material orders and verify that all vendor orders are correct and meet project specifications.
- Client Engineering Coordination: Act as the primary liaison dealing directly with customer engineers regarding electrical needs, specifications, and technical queries.
Success Measures
- Timely and accurate delivery of all submittals, shop drawings, and technical packets to keep production, permitting, and field teams on schedule.
- Reduction in day-to-day interruptions for senior staff by effectively managing floor questions and administrative paperwork.
- Accurate maintenance of as-built drawings and seamless coordination with Engineers of Record for permitting.
- Zero major material ordering errors or estimating omissions on reviewed projects.
- Positive feedback from the Operations Manager, senior technical staff, and fabrication team on communication and follow-through.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist in the management of change orders, ensuring proper documentation and approvals are obtained.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or senior leadership.
