Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Plant Modeling Engineer (PME) to join the Global Virtual Engineering (GVE) team. In this role, you will develop virtual sensor and actuator models to support calibration, verification, and validation of embedded controllers for engine, transmission, hybrid, electrification, and chassis systems.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Calibration, Controls, Validation, Vehicle Performance, Electrification, and Hardware Development to build high-quality virtual models used across vehicle development programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop sensor and actuator plant models using MATLAB/Simulink and other virtual modeling tools.
- Design virtual assets for HiL, SiL, VHiL, and Co-Simulation environments.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control diagnostics.
- Develop and execute model validation and test cases.
- Perform data acquisition and characterize sensor and actuator performance.
- Manage model enhancements, releases, documentation, and technical support.
- Define virtualization requirements for hardware, controls, and supplier teams.
- Support cross-functional collaboration across propulsion and vehicle domains.
- Analyze calibration differences and incorporate them into robust model designs.
- Maintain technical documentation and support model integration activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of relevant automotive engineering experience.
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
- Experience with dSPACE/GMSIM environments.
- Knowledge of CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and SPI communication protocols.
- Experience with DOORS requirements management.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and understand controller wiring.
- Experience working with HiL, SiL, or Co-Simulation environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of automotive engineering experience.
- Experience with Simscape, AEMSIM, GT Power, SABER, or similar modeling tools.
- Understanding of ECU, sensor, actuator, and HWIO functionality.
- Experience with Git, SVN, or TFS version control.
- Familiarity with Teamcenter, RTC, ETAS INCA, Eclipse, GCC, and GDB.
- Knowledge of propulsion systems, electrification, hybrid, or chassis controls.
