The Process Engineer is a technical expert and takes process ownership over the line structure. They own the data and ensure the line is running at the designated centerline. They are responsible for ensuring changeovers are executed in a timely manner and help manage change within the cell.
Position Responsibilities
- Leverages personal and contractor support to be a technical consult/expert/trainer for cell and operation team resources for applicable processes and systems.
- Owns Lines' Centerline (CL) Management System
- Lead the process of identify CL points and standards
- Coach the line team on CL execution and problem-solving skills
- Identify and prioritize losses elimination priorities
- Owns integrity of MES/downtime tracking System for the line
- Must be willing and able to work in a culture built around continuous improvement and change.
- Utilize PowerPoint and Excel software programs to analyze data, create standards and training materials
- Confers with other supervisors to help coordinate activities.
- Ability to effectively coach and train other employees. Act as a mentor to upskill and train new and developing employees.
- Responsible for coordinating start-up and training education for all improvement work.
- Leverages plant facilities, Maintenance Departments resources for all pertinent project improvement work requiring needed support or impacting their site accountability.
- Effectively coordinates Focused Improvement (FI) work for all appropriate plant personnel, team members, contractors, and vendors required to provide timely completion of improvement initiatives
- Effectively coordinate Autonomous Manufacturing Development (AMD) work for all appropriate plant personnel, team members, contractors, and vendors required to provide timely completion of improvement initiatives
- Communicates effectively to all key stakeholders through multiple levels of organization with progress updates as needed for responsible improvement work
- Uses appropriate documentation skills to formalize improvements and drive sustainment of project goals.
- Trains other team members on proper Focused Improvement tool utilization and execution.
- Capable of auditing effectiveness of FI tool utilization and keep resources focused for overall CPS phase as daily and weekly systems
- Owns and drives assigned Daily Management systems assessment plan.
- Leverages appropriate CPS/FI tools for necessary data to support success criteria development.
Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field required
Experience:
- Experience with continuous improvement projects preferred
- Operations and/or Operations Intern Experience preferred
Skills required:
- Strong math skills
- Excellent reasoning skills - ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and make conclusions.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills with good listening skills.
- Familiarity with Continuous Improvement tools and statistical tools is a plus
- Understanding of manufacturing unit operations
- Statistics, data modeling/analysis skills a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - both formal and informal including ability to communicate within all levels of the organization
- Strong computer competency required - proficient in Microsoft Office, i.e.Word, Excel, etc.
- Exposure to SAP, PowerBI System is preferred
- Ambitious self-starter with ability to work with minimal direction
- Flexible and able to work well in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Comfortable in a fast paced, changing environment
- Comfortable working in manufacturing environment
Accountability:
- Reports to Continuous Improvement Manager and will receive work direction from operations group in addition to Continuous Improvement department.
