Lead all engineering activities at the plant level from inception to end of life. This will include processes to make of custom medical components and the continuous improvement of the processes throughout their lifecycle. They will utilize the best technology available to design and build the most robust manufacturing process.
The Process Engineering Manager leads a group of engineers whose objectives are to manage projects, coordinate vendors, technology and personnel to ensure completion of projects in a reliable and timely manner. Will be responsible for understanding the implications of any technical implementation with regards to safety, quality, environment, costs and productivity. Will build a highly-effective engineering team that will be an example of leadership within Life Sciences.
Responsible for Smart Factory initiatives throughout the plant including software development, cybersecurity and IT hardware maintenance.
Will interact with all Life Science manufacturing plants related to the production of medical components
Key Accountabilities
Processing:
- Lead the Medical business unit engineering team's efforts in custom product development and customer projects. This includes processing, for new product introduction and continuous improvement activities for existing product lines.
- Develop and implement management systems to continuously improve the co-development process as a core competency within the Medical business.
- Design and implement process improvement projects to improve product quality, cost savings and efficiency.
- Performs Strategic and tactical management of new and ongoing projects as it relates to Medical BU at all LS manufacturing facilities.
- Industrialize new products by reliably and effective transitions into full scale manufacturing.
- Identifies, develops, designs, directs and completes optimization projects that improve the performance of the plant and its products. These projects range from moderate to extremely complex and may encompass all areas of Manufacturing. Contributes to all Internal Qualifications (IQ), and Operational Qualification (OQ). Drives Process Qualification (PQ) requirements.
Manufacturing Optimization:
- Manages plant engineering activities related to capital expenditure covering design, cost estimation, request submissions, selection/construction, and compliance with local, state and federal environmental and fire prevention standards
- Use WCM methodologies for management of projects, equipment installations and product optimization.
- Analyze and design lean manufacturing cells using automation and simulation tools to optimize, use of space, equipment, material and personnel.
- Be a key contributor to the development of industry 4.0 initiatives.
- Develops plant layout for planning rearrangements of facilities, equipment, and operations for better utilization of space and resources.
- Coaches and mentors engineers and Leads Smart Factory Initiatives across key plants.
Required Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering; required; Master's in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or Business; Preferred.
- 7+ years experience in Molding of Silicone, Rubber Polymers, Thermosets & Thermoplastics; Required.
- 3+ years of Project Management experience leading initiatives with varying complexities; Required.
- Demonstrated experience in a commercial or customer facing roll; Preferred.
- Working knowledge of mold (LIM, Transfer, Injection, Compression) and Extrusion Die design, function and construction; Preferred.
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience in leading & developing engineers; Required.
- Experience within Healthcare/Life Sciences Manufacturing; Preferred.
