Lead Data Engineer | Fort Washington, PA | Hybrid
Innovien is supporting an enterprise data platform modernization in the healthcare space. We're hiring a Lead Data Engineer to drive the move from Azure Synapse to Microsoft Fabric and set the engineering standards the platform will scale on. The split is roughly 60% hands-on architecture and build, 40% technical leadership, mentoring, and shaping enterprise data strategy.
What You'll Do
- Lead design of data warehouse, lakehouse, and hybrid architectures, and build complex pipelines on Azure-based platforms
- Define enterprise data architecture and infrastructure strategy, partnering with executives and stakeholders to align it with business goals
- Drive best practices in automation, DevOps, and CI/CD for data systems, working alongside DevOps, Security, and Product on cloud roadmaps
- Guide cloud resource planning, cost optimization, and capacity management, and troubleshoot escalated cloud issues with vendors and internal teams
- Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor across the organization, and evaluate emerging technology including AI/ML integration and advanced analytics
What You Bring
- 10+ years of hands-on data engineering, data warehousing, and Azure cloud data platform experience using Python, SQL, and ETL tooling for BI applications
- 5+ years leading projects to delivery with technical oversight, code reviews, and architectural guidance
- 5+ years architecting Azure-based data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Fabric
- Expert command of Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, and Gold lakehouse layers)
- Proven ability to gather business requirements and explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
Nice to Have
- Hands-on design and leadership of cloud-native architectures in Microsoft Fabric
- Strong data modeling background
- Experience in a regulated industry
Details
- Hybrid: onsite 2 days per week in Fort Washington, PA
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
- Full-time, permanent position
Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
