About Pacific Performance Engineering

Pacific Performance Engineering (PPE) is a leading manufacturer of high-performance automotive aftermarket products engineered to improve the performance, reliability, and durability of modern vehicles. Our product portfolio includes advanced lubrication, cooling, filtration, intake, exhaust, and drivetrain systems for diesel and gasoline applications.

We are seeking a Product Development Engineer specializing in lubrication filtration products to join our engineering team. This role will be responsible for the design, development, validation, and testing of next-generation oil and fluid filtration products, from initial concept through production.

Position Summary

The Product Development Engineer will take ownership of the mechanical design and development of PPE's lubrication filtration product line, including engine oil filters, transmission filters, fuel filters, hydraulic filtration products, and related filtration components.

This position will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, testing, quality, sourcing, and marketing teams to develop products that meet PPE's standards for performance, durability, manufacturability, and reliability.

The engineer will be involved throughout the entire product development process—from researching applications and defining requirements, to creating CAD models and prototypes, conducting laboratory and vehicle testing, analyzing results, and supporting the product through production and continuous improvement.

Application Question(s):

Please answer in your own words. Please keep answers short 2-4 sentences. Describe one mechanical product or component that you personally helped design and develop. What specifically did you design, what engineering problem were you solving, and how was the final design validated or tested?
Please answer in your own words. Please keep answers short 2-4 sentences. An engine oil filter prototype meets filtration-efficiency requirements, but the pressure drop across the filter is significantly higher than the design target, especially with cold oil. What factors would you investigate, and how would you determine the root cause?
Please answer in your own words. Please keep answers short 2-4 sentences. During vehicle testing, a new filtration product experiences a failure that did not occur during laboratory testing. Describe the process you would use to investigate the failure, identify the root cause, and determine whether a design change is necessary.
Please answer in your own words. Please keep answers short 2-4 sentences. You are asked to develop a new filtration product for a vehicle application that PPE has never produced before. Describe the engineering process you would follow from initial vehicle/application research through prototype, testing, validation, and production release.
