The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $73920 - $95495.4. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria..
Join Our Team as an Electrical Engineer!The Electrical Engineer is responsible for planning and executing projects related to the testing of switchgear products. They are responsible for designing, planning, and executing tests on switchgear products and/or their components to evaluate their performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams. The Test Engineer will report to Senior Manager - NJC Laboratories.
Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with design engineering teams to understand project requirements, develop engineering solutions based on the requirements, and ensure successful execution.
- Collaborate with design engineering teams to understand test requirements, test plans, and procedures.
- Set up and operate testing equipment, ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Conduct a range of tests, including short-circuit tests, dielectric tests, partial discharge tests, impulse tests, insulation resistance tests, and power frequency tests, in accordance with requirements provided in industry standards and S&C's internal standards.
- Accurately collect test data and measurements during project verification and/or product testing. Analyze and interpret test results using statistical methods and engineering tools to draw meaningful conclusions and make data-driven recommendations.
- Prepare detailed test and project reports, including methodology, results, and analysis. Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Ensure all testing activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and internal quality management systems.
- Support maintenance of test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability in testing.
- Create and maintain drawings and documentation related to the lab's processes, including but not limited to test reports, specifications, and user manuals.
- Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

What you'll Need To Succeed:Job Requirements (To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):
- BS degree in electrical or electronics engineering
- 0 to 2 years of experience in electrical testing, or a related field.
- Fundamental understanding of electrical engineering principles, and safety practices.
- Some experience in data analysis and statistical evaluation methods, with the ability to interpret data sets.
- Verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Meticulous approach to testing, data collection, and documentation to ensure accuracy and precision.
- Ability to work in a team environment, contribute ideas, and support team goals.
- Adherence to safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as multimeters and power supplies.
- Programming skills with languages like Visual Basic, MATLAB, and LabVIEW for test automation and data analysis.
MAJOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Continuously required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based tasks.
- Frequently required to walk moderate distances.
- Occasionally required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment.
- Frequently required to observe details at close range including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.
- Continuously required to talk and hear, in person and by phone/conference calls.
- Infrequently required to travel and work extended hours when necessary. May be required to travel overnight. May be required to travel internationally.
- Occasional standing for job site meetings, in-plant survey work and project reviews
- Occasional lifting of rolls of plans, project files, measuring equipment, up to 40 pounds
