Summary:
Capstone IT is helping our client find a Senior Data Engineer – Operational Data to design, develop, and optimize ETL workflows as part of a modernization initiative. This role involves migrating from IBM DataStage to Python-based scripting and cloud technologies while ensuring data quality and integrity. The ideal candidate will mentor mid-level developers, lead modernization efforts, and optimize SQL-based data workflows in a collaborative team environment.
Top 4 Skills:
- ETL Tools (Informatica, DataStage, DBT)
- 6 years SQL programming in DB2 environment/SQL server
- 4 years of Python or Shell Scripting
- Experience with Docker / Jenkins
- Cloud data solutions (AWS, Google or Azure)
- Data Modeling & Warehousing
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain complex ETL processes and data pipelines.
- Conduct data analysis, source-to-target mappings, and data quality assessments.
- Perform testing and validation of ETL workflows.
- Troubleshoot and support production data processes and systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams for data solutions and architecture.
- Adhere to Agile practices and contribute to code reviews.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of IT experience, to include at least 6 years’ progressive experience in relational database management systems.
- 6+ years of SQL experience.
- 4+ years' experience using Python.
- Demonstrate experience in data engineering with 8 years' experience using ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, DataStage).
- Strong relational database knowledge, including a broad understanding of current and prospective data architecture and database performance tuning.
Nice to have:
- SQL Programming in DB2 and SQL Server.
- Workday programming experience (Big Plus).
- Experience with Docker and Jenkins.
- Leadership experience in mentoring & coaching developers.
