This position is in the System Shared Services Unit of the Information Technology (IT) Department of Headquarters, Blythewood, South Carolina.

Responsibilities of the IT Manager I• Management of desktop support personnel and desktop support responsibilities across all branch offices and headquarters to ensure efficient operation and user satisfaction.
• Provide second/third tier support for IT Help Desk by ensuring response to trouble tickets for break/fix including troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software problems on endpoint equipment, and other related business critical peripherals.
• Manages the administration, coordination, deployment and support, including life cycle management, of client-side endpoints, peripherals and related operating systems, which includes developing and maintaining software and hardware configurations.
• Provides technical guidance, assistance, and support to desktop technicians and other IT teams. Remains abreast of agency security requirements to ensure compliance.
• Responsible for inventory management and procurement card purchases for desktop related equipment and supplies. Manages assigned agency vehicles including maintenance and supply needs and monitors in accordance with agency and state fleet requirements.
• Manages personnel including training, EPMS, career counseling, corrective actions, employee recognition, recruitment and termination.
• Assists the IT Infrastructure Director with planning, budget forecasting, and changes and recommendations for operational policies and procedures. Provides status updates and seeks guidance and obtains necessary approvals from the IT Infrastructure Director.
• Performs all other duties assigned by IT Infrastructure Director.
Minimum and Additional Requirements Minimum Qualifications• A bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, information technology, mathematics, statistics, management information science or a related field and experience in telecommunications, data processing and/or information technology.
• Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Agency Requirements• Must complete a nationwide criminal background check to include finger printing.
Additional Requirements• Strong knowledge of and hands-on experience with Microsoft common desktop operating systems and common business applications including Active Directory
• A working knowledge of desktop and laptop computer hardware and the ability to properly diagnose defective computer components and resolve hardware-related issues.
• Excellent communication and employee management skills. Positive attitude and high comfort level in a team-oriented working environment.

• Works under the supervision of the IT Infrastructure Director.

• Must have a valid SC Driver's License. Some overnight travel may be required.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.

Preferred QualificationsAgency Preferred Requirements• At least 4 years' experience in a desktop support role in an enterprise environment required. A+, Network+, Dell and Microsoft certifications preferred.
