Job Description
Utilize expertise to support regulatory compliance at defined Hospitals and areas of responsibility
within ProMedica.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
*All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise*
1. Active participation on System Compliance Council to include:
a. Metric reporting, analysis, and trending
b. Compliance Policy and Process standardization
c. Compliance Education/Training needs assessment and content development geared
toward employee awareness of the Corporate Compliance Program and the Code of
Conduct.
d. Incident response team participation
2. For each Hospital/Entity in defined area of responsibility:
a. Function as the day-today resource for compliance questions and concerns.
b. Attend hospital leadership meetings (no less than quarterly)
i. Compliance and privacy monitoring metrics
ii. Significant trends identified and plans for remediation
iii. Address compliance issues and concerns raised by leadership and communicate
these back to the compliance council to ensure issue is addressed at other BUs as
well
iv. Industry trends, law/regulation changes and best practice
c. Monthly analysis of Compliance Monitoring data and other metrics for issues and
trends. Evaluate compliance with governmental and other regulations regarding medical
necessity, clinical documentation, etc.
i. Work with individual department heads when data indicates inadequate compliance
to assist in action plan development and resolution.
d. Initiate and direct the conduct of internal investigations in response to reports of
possible compliance violations.
e. Facilitate as appropriate corrective action as a result of internal investigation with all
departments, providers, and employees.
f. Assist in establishing methods to improve the efficiency and quality of services and in
reducing vulnerability to fraud, abuse, and waste.
g. Present Compliance & Privacy Overview at NEO
h. Assist in the assessment of department specific learning needs and knowledge gaps
using both internal resources (i.e., audit and/or investigation results, data analysis,
reported deficiencies) and industry identified high risk areas.
i. Assist in the development of department specific compliance training/education
j. Maintain ongoing expertise in the field of healthcare compliance including review of any
issuance by governmental agencies such as the OIG, including fraud alerts, special
advisories, or proposed rules.
k. Provide educational material to the Management team regarding new laws and
regulations and issues affecting their specific areas of practice.
l. Follow compliance project work plans, timelines, and milestones.
m. Track and document compliance communications (including compliance hotline calls)
and activities in standardized format.
n. Prepare reports, charts, and other documentation as necessary to communicate
compliance issues/concerns to appropriate parties. Other duties as assigned.
This position can be worked remote.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Law, or related healthcare field.
Skills: Familiarity with hospital operations and healthcare regulatory environment is a must.
The ability to collect, analyze and summarize data from a variety of sources is essential to this
position. Must have superior verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to
clearly communicate complex regulatory guidelines and coordinate communication among groups.
Must be able to establish a structure of communication and teamwork with the BU/Department
leadership. Must be able to understand directions and respond to inquiries; must have excellent
interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at all levels of the organization. The RCO must
be highly ethical, and able to maintain strict confidentiality. The RCO is expected to uphold and
communicate the principles of the ProMedica Compliance plan at all times. Must be fully
proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Years of Experience: 5 years audit, legal or compliance experience in a health care setting or
managed care organization.

Education: Master's Degree
Certification: Lead and/or Six Sigma
Salary Range: $47,840 - $130,728
