Optical Engineer IIIKey Responsibilities- Engineering Design Packages (EDPs): Create, review, and maintain EDPs for optical network builds on Ciena RLS and Nokia GX platforms, ensuring accurate and detailed documentation of network design, configuration, and testing requirements.
- Methods of Procedure (MOPs): Write, review, and maintain MOPs for optical network deployment, turn-up, and testing activities, ensuring that procedures are clear, concise, and follow industry best practices.
- Remote Turn-Up and Testing: Provide remote support for optical turn-up and testing activities, utilizing expertise in Ciena RLS and Nokia GX platforms to troubleshoot issues and ensure successful deployment.
- Deployment Activity Support: Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and field partners to plan and coordinate deployment schedules and activities, ensuring timely and efficient completion of projects.
Required Qualifications- Hands-on Experience: Hands-on experience with Ciena RLS and Nokia GX platforms, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Optical Network Deployment Experience: Proven record of supporting long-haul and metro optical network deployments, including experience with fiber optic cable systems, DWDM, OTN, and optical transport systems.
- EDP and MOP Creation: Practical experience creating and executing EDPs and MOPs for optical network deployments, including knowledge of industry-standard templates and formats.
- Coordination and Communication: Experience coordinating with vendors, field teams, and operations, including strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Technical Writing: Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to create clear, concise, and well-structured documentation.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
- Time Management: Strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Location:
- For the Optical Engineer III position, the location options are Reston, VA, Denver, CO, and Remote East Coast.
- For those based in Reston and Denver, there is an expectation to work from the office at least three days per week.
- The specific in-office days are typically Tuesdays and Thursdays, with the third day being flexible based on team needs and collaboration requirements.
- Remote work is also an option for candidates on the East Coast, providing flexibility in work arrangements.

Salary Range$85,120.00 - $134,400.00 USD (Salary)
