Ride Development Engineers work within a Project Engineering team and are responsible for every aspect of mechanical ride system design & development from concept through installation. They work on a wide variety of innovative ride platforms that include unique requirements for extreme duty cycles, high reliability, and inherent life safety. They must collaborate on diverse teams that include both technical and creative members and be comfortable in environments where scope and requirements change frequently.
You will report to the Executive Ride Development Engineering.
As a Ride Development Engineer, you will:- Design and develop innovative ride systems from concept to installation
- Translate creative visions into technical requirements
- Oversee engineering design, mockups, production, installation, and testing
- Manage vendors and contractors
- Lead prototype builds and proof-of-concept efforts
- Support field installation, testing, and on-site problem-solving
- Occasionally travel both domestically and/or internationally
- Work collaboratively within a large and diverse team environment
Basic Qualifications:- 4+ years of relevant/hands on design experience
- Basic engineering knowledge (e.g. statics, dynamics, kinematics, stress/strain/fatigue)
- Basic Engineering expertise (e.g. machine design, weldments, power train, materials)
- Experience with design tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Navisworks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, ANSYS, FEA, Matlab)
- Knowledge of, and expertise with, industry codes and standards
- Demonstrated expertise in one or multiple areas of ride equipment design
- Ability to understand and incorporate multiple stakeholder requirements into design assignments
Preferred Qualifications:- Previous Disney or themed entertainment experience, with knowledge of the industry
- Experience with life safety design/requirements
- Experience with prototype, development, and/or innovative products
- Experience with hands-on fabrication and installation preferred
- Technical certifications (EIT, FE, PE)
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts with non-technical audience
- Hands on experience with equipment assembly, fabrication, and installation
Education:Bachelor of Science, or above, in an engineering field, science, or math
