Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mid-Level Data Engineer to support data management and analytics initiatives within the Department of Defense. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and systems to ensure the availability, reliability, and security of data for defense-related applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, experience working in secure environments, and a passion for solving complex data challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes for ingesting, processing, and storing large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
- Implement data quality and validation checks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data.
- Optimize data storage and retrieval performance using appropriate technologies and techniques.
- Ensure compliance with DoD data governance policies, security protocols, and ethical AI principles.
- Support the integration of data systems into cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship and active [Secret / Top Secret / TS/SCI] security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Must possess proficiency with Maven, Vantage, TDP, and Advana
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles, with at least 1 year supporting federal or defense programs.
- Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python or Java.
- Experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake) and ETL tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Informatica).
- Knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and data architecture best practices.
- Familiarity with DoD data systems, cybersecurity protocols, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS GovCloud, C2S, Azure Government).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
- Knowledge of MLOps practices and tools (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow).
- Background in data security and encryption techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
